Maaran started dabbling in robotics when he was in Grade 3 and got hooked on national and international robotics competitions. While in elementary school, he created his own team and worked with them in his basement to compete at the International Robofest Event hosted at Lawrence Tech University in Michigan and at the International Robot Olympiad hosted in South Korea. This interest led him to chose Crescent School (Toronto) as his high school because of the school's resources and focus provided towards engineering design, development and robotics. He is now the executive member of Team 610 from Crescent School that is frequently the regional champion in the FIRST Robotics Challenge hosted around the world. He is completing Grade 12 in 2018 and hopes to pursue engineering or computer science as his university major. At CFLI Maaran hopes to inspire students to grow their team work, communication and leadership skills and showcase them using robotics as a platform.
